All Luminus COB products are packaged and labeled with part numbers. On the figure of the package label below, the customer part number is shown in number 2.
The part number designation is as follows:
Each configurator is explained as follows:
- Product family: "C" means chip-on-board and "M" means multi-die. The middle letter signifies the LED power level.
- LES: Approximate LED emission diameter in mm
- CCT: The color temperature is the CCT configurator multiplied by 100. For example, a "30" in the CCT configurator represents a 3000K color temperature.
- CRI: The minimum color rendering index
- Package configurator: a 4-character configurator consisting of two alphabet letters followed by two numbers. (e.g., AA40, AC42, TC50, TC52, TE50 etc.)
The two alphabet letters signify different substrate types. AC and TC substrates with the mouse-bites screw hole are compatible with COB connectors. AA and TA substrates with closed screw holes are preferred in manual soldering designs since it is a little bigger. The first letter T stands for the substrate with a Sulfur resistance process.

- Generation and chromaticity: The two-digit number next to the package configurator signifies the generation and the chromaticity. The first digit number represents the generation of the Luminus COB technology. The Generation 4 COBs provide efficacy >140 lm/W @3000K, 90 CRI products, and 180 lm/W @ 5000K, 70 CRI products. The LUX series (Gen 5) features high efficacy > 160 lm/W @3000K, 90 CRI products, and narrow-band red phosphor for enhanced color saturation, R9 values. The High-Density Gen 4 (BH40) features Robusto technology for industry-leading lumen maintenance and color stability over time at high current and up to Tc = 120°C. BH40 products are designed for the highest lumen density per emitter area (>7,000 lm/cm2) providing highest center-beam-candle-power (CBCP).
Configurator | Categories |
30, 32, 34, 38 | Gen 3 |
40, 42, 44, 48 | Gen 4 |
50, 52 | Lux / Gen 5 |
60, 62 | Gen 6 |
BH40 | High-Density Gen 4 |
The second digit number represents the chromaticity of the LED. A "0" signifies the Standard LED Series with the center color point on the black body locus (BBL), a "2" signifies the SensusTM LED Series with the center color point ~6 SDCM below the BBL, a "4" signifies the Xtreme SensusTM LED Series with the center color point ~12 SDCM below the BBL, and an "8" signifies the custom color points. The figures below show the chromaticity bin structure on 1931 CIE color space
Standard LED Series (30, 40, 50, 60)
SensusTM LED Series (32, 42, 52, 62) and Xtreme SensusTM LED Series (34, 44)
Custom Color LEDs (38, 48)
The table summarized the chromaticity configurators of standardized color points with the corresponding series:
Configurator | Series |
30,40,50, 60 | Standard |
32,42,52 | Sensus |
34,44 | Extreme Sensus |
38,48 | Custom Color |
Luminus also provides specialized LED series for accurate color rendering for different applications such as PerfectWhite™, SmoothWhite, Salud™ and Hospitality LED series. The package configurators are listed in the table:
Configurator | Series | Features |
PC32 | Perfect White |
Full spectrum 90+ CRI with the cyan gap filled and enhanced red, R9~97 |
TS31 | Smooth White | Natural light broad spectrum with 95+CRI and low blue |
TU31 | Salud COB | Enhanced spectrum for high melanopic human-centric daytime lighting |
TC41 | Hospitality | Warm CCTs with high-color rendering ideal for hospitality and retail applications. |
