This calculator uses a 1cm2 area so the Rth value below is 0.608 cm^2K/W. This is a good value to use for first order calculations and comparisons of discrete LED packages. When doing system level calculations and/or array calculations, the correct area to use is complicated. We will deal with this in other articles.
